Challenges of the quality assurance for micro-credentials

The representative of the Agency for control and quality assurance of higher education participated on January 12, 2021 in an online meeting of the Working group on quality assurance within the ERASMUS project called MICROBOL, which is dedicated to micro-credentials as special forms of training regarding to lifelong learning, which completion is followed by a certain type of credential or qualification.

The main topics of the meeting were the results of the research on the current state of play of micro-credentials in the European Higher Education Area, the challenges of applying the Bologna Principles to quality assurance of micro-credentials, as well as the possibility of legal recognition of these mini qualification for the labour market needs.

Also, it was held a plenary discussion on micro-credentials development in different national quality assurance systems in the field of higher education, during which the Agency᾽s representative presented how these special development programmes are incorporated in the existing regulatory framework for higher education, what are the conditions for their attendance and whether they undergo the accreditation procedure by the competent authority.
