HEQA Deputy Director participates in the 100th Bologna Follow-Up Group Board Meeting

The Deputy Director of HEQA participated in the 100th Bologna Follow-Up Group (BFUG) Board Meeting, held on 28 and 29 September 2026 in Podgorica, as the official representative of Montenegro in this body.

The meeting was held as part of the co-chairmanship of Montenegro and Ireland of the Bologna Follow-Up Group during the second half of 2026 and brought together representatives of countries and organisations participating in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

The meeting was opened by Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Anđela Jakšić Stojanović, who highlighted the importance of joint European action in enhancing the quality, accessibility and international cooperation in higher education, as well as the importance of Montenegro’s active participation in the EHEA.

During the two-day meeting, key issues relevant to the further development of the EHEA were discussed, including fundamental values, internationalisation and mobility, monitoring the implementation of the Bologna Process, quality assurance, the future of the Bologna Process, and the long-term sustainability and functioning of the EHEA.

Particular attention was paid to preparations for the EHEA Ministerial Conference, which will be held in 2027 in Iași and Chișinău, as well as to the drafting of a new Ministerial Communiqué, which will define the next directions for the development of the Bologna Process.

The further development of the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance (ESG) was also discussed. The Director of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) presented activities related to the preparation of their new text, which is expected to be adopted at the BFUG members’ meeting in Dublin, Ireland, in November 2026.

Through her participation in the work of the BFUG Steering Committee, as the official representative of Montenegro, the Deputy Director of HEQA contributes to the coordination of activities within the Bologna Process, preparations for the next Ministerial Conference, and strengthening Montenegro’s role in the EHEA.
