Second online workshop within the project “Better academic qualifications through quality assurance – BAQUAL”

The second online workshop within the BAQUAL project “Qualification Standard for Teachers in Higher Education – a basis for the development of programs to improve teacher competencies” was held on November 24 and 25, 2021 in the organization of partners from Macedonia.

During the workshop, representatives of the National Working Group from Macedonia introduced the participants to the qualification standard for the teachers in higher education within this project, with special reference to the recommendations from the document „Roma Communique“ adopted at the Ministerial Conference held in Rome in 2020. Concrete experiences when it comes to improving teacher competencies in the field of higher education, as well as case studies from higher education institutions in Macedonia, were presented at the workshop. During the open discussion, the participants had the opportunity to exchange opinions on specific ways in which the quality of the teaching can be improved as well as on conducting continuous training for teaching staff in order to apply modern didactic and pedagogical skills.

Within the first day of the workshop, the representative of the ACQAHE – Ana Rutović held a presentation on the standard of qualification in higher education developed by the National Working Group in Montenegro, and introduced participants with the idea of developing lifelong learning program. Special attention was paid to the specifics of the regulatory framework that defines the conditions for the development of qualifications in the field of higher education, as well as on the research on teacher competencies conducted by the Working Group among teachers, students and management of higher education institutions.

The second day of the workshop was dedicated to the discussion on future steps within the implementation of project activities, as well as to the challenges that project partners face within their national systems.

For the representatives of our national Working Group, this workshop was a great opportunity to expand their knowledge in the field of developing qualification standards.
